A Gold, Enamel and Gem-set Brooch by Carlo Giuliano, The turquoise is significant as its colour closely resembles of the Forget-Me-Not. The diamond, which is famed for being incorruptible and indestructible, is mblematic of eternal love (a sentiment which is reiterated by the shape of the brooch, which is an unbroken circle). The two hearts in the centre of the jewel have been tied together by the ribbon above, a motif which represents hearts united by true love., English, circa 1890, 4.5 cm.
