The Phoenix is a family-owned fixture in Washington, D.C., first opening its doors in 1955. The thoughtfully curated collection of global & sustainable fashion, jewelry and home goods was founded by Bill and Betty Hays. The two traveled to Mexico annually with their family where they would curate their collection of clothing and artwork for their Georgetown storefront. The Phoenix is now owned by John and Sharon’s daughter, Samantha Hays Gushner. Third-generation owner Samantha Hays Gushner’s commitment to sustainability and close relationships with our designers and artisans ensures that our clothing, jewelry and home goods come from responsible, eco-friendly sources.
