the beatiful

the beatiful “Hooker Emerald” was cut from a stone worn by Abdul-Hamid II. He was one of the last sultans of the Ottoman Empire. In 1911, Tiffany and Company purchased the stone and set it in a brooch. It was later donated to the Smithsonian Museum by James Stewart Hooker.
